It’s a seriously hardcore TT with the attitude of Bakkies Botha and the muscle of Vin Diesel to back it up.
No accusations of “hairdresser’s car” here at all. Only runaway rivals and screaming admirers.

What makes this concept car as mean as it looks and performs?
A whole raft of things actually, starting with the engine bay where its 2.5-litre TFSI generates and delivers a boss-making 441kW and a dense 650Nm of torque to hurl the little thing from 0 - 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 310km/h.

Clearly some work has been done that’s for sure.
We know this motor from the all-new RS 3 Sportback where it can “only” muster 270kW.
In this TT clubsport concept application, it appears to have gained some serious freedom and duly went to town.
Part of the work involved using thetalents of an electric biturbo which is the kind of technology that VW Group will probably introduce in 2016 with the new Audi SQ7 TDI.
It’s the first time that such tech is presented in a petrol though.
Electric turbocharging is said to reduce lag to almost zero, thus guaranteeing instantaneous power delivery at any engine speed.

Going against the current grain, Audi chose to install a 6-speed manual gearbox instead of a double-clutch S tronic (DSG).
With a weight of less than 1,400kg and quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD), performance was never going to be an issue.
But just to make doubly sure, several other steps were taken.

Perhaps most visible of all is the manually-adjustable rear wing with side flaps and a width almost as wide as the car itself.
For the record, the car is 4.33 metres long and 1.97 metres wide, with track widths of 1,736 metres front and 1,729 metres at the rear.
The TT clubsport concept wears size 9.5 J x 20wheels in a matt black finish, shod with 275/30 tyres as well as carbon ceramic brakes on all four wheels.
Extensive use of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRF) is evident on a number of parts such as the air inlets and splitter at the front end, side sill trims, rear diffuser and the outrageous wing as well.

Upon entering the car, the two occupants will be met with a mix of premium and sportiness, as demonstrated by ultra-high-strength titanium tubes most visible behind them, lightweight bucket seats with four-point harnesses and coral orange Alcantara upholstery with contrasting stitching, black Alcantara and familiar TT features.
